Scholarship Trip

It was a long journey which led to endless photo opportunities. This was my favorite photo of the car ride.

May scholarship trip

The scholarship trip was fantastic! The Lord has always used these trips as a way to reaffirm by career and desire to serve in Macao. The beauty of the countryside is breathtaking. It always makes me think of Rudyard Kipling novels. It feels like traveling unchartered areas of God' creation. The Chinese have been there here for thousands of years but for me it is always new. The work that we are able to do is refreshing. This year, I was able to see the joy the scholarships have brought to their lives. They seem happier. There is one family that I have been able to form a bond with, a single mother with twin boys. When I first met the mother, she never smiled or laughed. She has experienced the very worst in life and you could see it in her face. She had lost all hope for her life and the future of her boys. Two years later, she greeted me with the biggest smile possible. She has a job she enjoys and her boys are not only able to go to school but also a special after school program. She is only able to afford the schooling due to the scholarships. The scholarships have taken the stress of providing away but it is the Holy Spirit that has given her the HOPE. I look forward to seeing them again and learning what new things the Lord has done in their lives.

Scholarship Trip

Tomorrow, I am leaving to go on our Bi-annual Scholarship trip. I always look forward to this trip. It is a great time for us to reconnect as a team and to help those in our community. It also helps keep me focused on the work and not my own petty wants. The people we meet live on very little money yet they still can praise the Lord. It shows us once again that money can't buy you love or happiness. But the Lord's love will bring you all the happiness allowed in this world.

Can't wait to share a story or two with you when I return. I pray that we will have good weather. Currently, it is raining heavily which means the roads should be nice and bumpy.

First Blog Entry EVER!

Hello Blogging World,

This is my first time blogging and I am surprised how easy it might be. I say "might" because I have learned to be weary of things that take very little effort. So we shall see. I have always said that I would never blog but I finally have something blog worthy. That is my ministry in Macao, SAR China. I am working with LCMS World Mission in Macao and Hong Kong. I have been living here for 20 months and I love it. Despite all the challenges that come with working abroad, I have found my own niche in China. It is becoming my home. The Lord has blessed me greatly with friends and co-workers. We have become a family.

My role as Short-term Team Coordinator Assistant takes me all over South China. I have experience so many wonderful and exotic things already.

I hope to keep this blog update as often as possible. Due to my traveling, there might be times when I am unable to connect to the internet.
